Designing for Dementia
A key focus in modern European Architecture for Care and Nursing Homes is person-centred dementia care and how this is addressed by the built environment to include Cognitive Ability, Social Ability and Physical Ability.
A key aspect of designing for a cognitive impairment like dementia is to build on the strengths that residents still have. Design should not just aim to support residents‚Äô disabilities, but utilise their remaining abilities. There are a number of ways in which this can be done.
