Let’s Make Some Noise for Changing Places Awareness Day 2018!

Posted on July 19, 2018

It’s that time of year again!

A time for recognition and reflection. Changing Places Awareness Day, the brainchild of Aveso to boost the profile and periphery of the campaign, has come back around for its third annual occurrence. Thursday July 19th is the official day to celebrate the leaps made by the campaign in the 12 years since its inception and to continue to promote and raise awareness for it.

There are now over 1100 toilets in the UK – pretty impressive! But everyone weighing in on the Awareness Day and egging on the momentum will know that we can do so much better and continue to do so. But it takes people, it takes understanding and that is what this Thursday is all about.

Dutch King’s Commissioner opens OpeMed Sling Company

Posted on

“A passionate, innovative and social company” were the words the Dutch King’s Commissioner René Paas officially opened our new Hoist Sling company UniQare Quality Slings, a new exciting sister company for OpeMed. With a true ethical stance running through the veins of the company, UniQare only recruits from a rich pool of labour that might otherwise find it difficult to find employment, whether it be a disability, or an employee from countries with less opportunities, UniQare has made it a priority to make a difference.

UniQare is based alongside United Care, our leading Dutch player in the Hoist and Transfer market, that all form part of the OpeMed group. The Kings Commissioner Paas said that he was proud for being able to brag a little to the country every now and then about the innovation climate in ‘his’ Groningen, the town in northern Holland where we are already ramping up production.

OpeMed Brand New ‘Design and Approach to Installing Changing Places’ Guide

Posted on February 21, 2018

The updated BS8300:2018 is now in place.  The British Standard takes the form of guidance and recommendations, and this particular iteration refers directly to Changing Places toilets and what is required to create a fully compliant facility.

Of course, nobody wants to be caught out where the standard has introduced new changes, but reading through can be a time-consuming process. As Co-Sponsors of the Changing Places campaign, we amalgamated the new BS8300 recommendations with the Changing Places Guide and our knowledge as suppliers and installers to create a new ‘Design and Approach to Installing Changing Places’ Guide.

Brand New OT200 Video

The OT200 and Flat Spaces: Earlier this year we re-visited our installation at Flat Spaces, a fantastically accessible Holiday Home in Ropley, Hampshire. A highly sought after inclusive holiday location, our first video showcases the OT200 Compact Ceiling Hoist demonstrated in-use by guests Lisa Edmunds and her son, Cameron.

The video not only provides evidence of aesthetics, with neat flushed tracking and cut-out door headers to allow the hoist to pass seamlessly between rooms, but also highlights the ease of use as we follow Lisa quickly and simply hoist her son and trace their faultless and unhindered movement through the property.

Google Photos: Illustrating the Best of OpeMed

Posted on March 10, 2017

Google Photos is a simple website for storing, editing and sharing photos. But it’s also one of the best tools to get more out of imagery.

Working with patient transfer equipment, we have found picture galleries showing our products in situ have been really valuable to our customers. It helps to combat myths that equipment can be intrusive or unattractive when installed. Using this service has been a powerful tool allowing our customers to both gain a greater insight to our product range and allow our Product Specialists to be able to demonstrate some of the complexities with an easy to use gallery.
